About Us

Our Mission

At the UVic Filmmaking Club, it is our mission run a collaborative and fun club of and for independent student filmmakers. Our goal is to produce small-budget films on UVic property. These films will be culturally relevant, and will highlight student’s artistic voices.

Meet Our Filmmakers

Our club is driven by passionate individuals with a shared love for visual storytelling. From writers to camera operators, our diverse team is dedicated to nurturing creativity and producing captivating cinematic experiences.

Nicolas Ihmels

Nic, our founder and team lead, is a screenwriter of the UVic Filmmaking Club. Nic first became interested in filmmaking after watching Christopher Nolan’s Inception as a teenager. Upon coming to UVic, Nic wanted to create a space for other filmmakers, or people interested in filmmaking to come together and create. Nic is a second year Bachelor of Fine Arts in Writing student at UVic.

AJ Aiken

AJ, our creative assistant, is a writer, photographer, and digital creator. She is a graduate of the Digital Production Writing and Design and Digital Communication programs and Camosun College, where she directed the short film entitled "The Real Brew People of Victoria." She is currently a UVic writing and political science major and a research assistant on a PXR XRtist VR storytelling project. 

Ben Colley

Ben, our equipment operations guy, he is a graduate of the Digital Production Writing and Design program at Camosun College and was a camera operator on the short film "Real Brew People of Victoria." He is currently working on his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Writing.
